On Blast: Jeffrey Perrine, White Nationalist Street Harasser

Printable flyer with information about Jeffrey Perrine

Jeffrey Eric Perrine of Orangevale, CA, is a local far-right extremist who has become increasingly active in the patriot movement over the past year. Perrine is an openly anti-immigrant, racist, and transphobic Trump supporter. He has repeatedly attempted to disrupt liberal and leftist events in Sacramento, and he has a history of harassing protesters and random passersby alike. Perrine frequently travels to participate in extremist rallies, including Patriot Prayer in the Pacific Northwest, the recent No to Marxism rally in Berkeley, and the MOAR (Mother of All Rallies) Trump rally in Washington, D.C. He has also been previously affiliated with the Sacramento Proud Boys, although they eventually kicked him out for being a loose cannon and a white nationalist.

Jeffrey Perrine first showed up on our radar in January of 2018, when he attended Unite America First, a patriot rally in Sacramento that drew attendees like Kyle Chapman (AKA Based Stickman), local neo-Nazi Chris Alden Locke, the Sacramento Proud Boys, and members of the III% militia movement. After the event, Perrine and his buddies ganged up on a passing teenager who took issue with the group’s Trump signage and anti-immigrant chants. It’s unclear what exactly went on during the exchange, but Perrine’s role in it was offensive enough that a random jogger ran up on him after hearing what happened. The rest of Perrine’s party stood around watching as the jogger knocked him to the ground and landed multiple blows to his face. Talk about vigilante justice!

Perrine engaged in similar street harassment after attending a “Vote Dem Out” event at the State Capitol in early March. The event consisted of Jeffrey and a group of roughly ten other patriots and far right live streamers (including Ben Bergquam of Frontline America, Will Johnson of Unite America First, and several Sacramento Proud Boys) who disrupted a meeting at the State Capitol and later roamed the downtown area wearing MAGA hats and shouting pro-Trump and anti-immigrant slogans. While downtown, Perrine and others began recording a young transgender individual and taunting them with transphobic slurs after the individual confronted the group about their xenophobic language and Trump memorabilia. Perrine began shouting at the young person, demanding information and speculating about their genitalia, and declaring that “transgenderism is a mental illness.” The group continued demeaning and verbally attacking their target on camera until the individual was forced to run across the street to escape the situation. Afterward, Perrine could be heard whooping and laughing in celebration and yelling “I love it!” This targeted attack on a trans person further shows what a danger Perrine is to our community. Perrine and those like him are the reason trans people often fear for their safety in public. Not only is he actively organizing to promote his bigoted beliefs, but he is also willing to act on those beliefs in a way that poses an immediate threat to those he discriminates against.

A few days later, Perrine showed up to disrupt a leftist protest against Jeff Sessions with several Proud Boys, far right livestreamers, and neo-Nazi Chris Alden Locke in tow. Perrine attempted to escalate the situation by hounding the protest with anti-immigrant rhetoric and blaring the siren feature on his megaphone. During the event, Chris Alden Locke seig heiled multiple times and eventually yelled racial slurs at a black protester. Perrine, who had previously been buddy-buddy with Locke, attempted to separate himself from the situation after the racist outburst. However, Locke and Perrine had been friends up until that point despite Locke’s outspoken support of Nazism and overtly racist Facebook posts. It’s unreasonable to assume that Perrine was unaware of Locke’s beliefs until that moment- rather, it’s clear that he was unconcerned by them until Locke made him look bad in the public sphere. Perrine continues to maintain a Facebook friendship with Locke.

In fact, Jeffrey has no problem taking similarly extremist stances and saying similarly racist things. At the June 30th Patriot Prayer rally in Portland, Perrine was recorded shouting that “Illegal immigrants should have their heads smashed into the concrete.” He was involved with the Sacramento Proud Boys at the time and showed up to the event wearing body armor, clearly prepared for street fighting. Jeffrey was later documented kicking an anti-fascist protester while they were down. He was arrested during the event, and photos of his detainment went viral online. After the Portland rally, the Proud Boys reportedly distanced themselves from Perrine because his overt white nationalism was bad for their public image.

Here is the clip where Perrine announces that “Illegal immigrants should have their heads smashed into the concrete.”:

And here is a clip where Perrine can be seen kicking an anti-fascist while they are down on June 30th in Portland:

Perrine also showed up to far right organizer Amber Cumming’s “No to Marxism” rally in Berkeley in August. His attendance and planned speech further isolated him from patriots in Sacramento due to infighting between Cummings and far right organizers in Sacramento, including Sacramento Proud Boys leader Gabe Silva.

In September, Perrine traveled to Washington, D.C. for the MOAR Trump Rally. Footage of the event’s after party showed Perrine being confronted over his racist views. Later, Perrine was videotaped talking with two Black Trump supporters about how slavery wasn’t actually that bad. In the following clip, Perrine explains to Patriot Prayer organizer Joey Gibson why he was kicked out of the Sacramento chapter of the Proud Boys:

Perrine’s racist, transphobic, and anti-immigrant views pose a serious threat to marginalized people in our community. His extremism is so intense that even dangerous and bigoted alt-right groups like the Proud Boys refuse to associate with him. What’s worse, he has shown an alarming pattern of terrorizing LGBT people, immigrants, leftists, and all others he opposes with street harassment, threats of violence, and physical attacks. Jeffrey’s escalation from a right-wing rally goer to an advocate and agent of targeted violence is disturbing but unsurprising. One of the most dangerous aspects of the so-called patriot movement is the way it funnels bigoted individuals down the path to further extremism and emboldens them to act on their discriminatory views. It’s critical that our community is made aware of Jeffrey Perrine before his behavior escalates any further.

Jeffrey is currently unemployed and lives in the Sacramento suburbs. His partner, Kimmy Williams, is also engaged in far right organizing. His legal address is in Citrus Heights, but he spends most of his time at Kimmy’s house in Orangevale.

Arrigo lives with his wife Deanna at 8624 Stratus Dr., Orangevale, CA 95662:

Joseph Arrigo’s house, which features a “Welcome to the Arrigo’s” sign and a State of Jefferson flag. The State of Jefferson is a conservative separatist movement in Southern Oregon and Northern California that  has some overlap with the far right.

More about Identity Evropa:

Identity Evropa is a white supremacist organization with a membership base across the United States. The group’s ideological platform is white identitarianism, a subset of white supremacy that calls for the creation of an all-white nation state. Identity Evropa is classified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. The group has attempted to appeal to a wider audience by obscuring their racist and genocidal beliefs with a facade of professionalism- Identity Evropa primarily recruits young white men off college campuses, hosts “days of service” where members pick up trash and distribute food to the homeless, and has abandoned the traditional neo-Nazi skinhead style in favor of suits and ties. Underneath this carefully curated appearance, however, is a history of unapologetic fascism and racist violence.

Identity Evropa was founded by Nathan Damigo, a military veteran who served 5 years in prison after robbing a cab driver at gunpoint for “looking Iraqi”. After his release, Damigo hosted an alt-right podcast and later served as chairman of the National Youth Front, a position he acquired after the previous chair was forced out with death threats over his interracial marriage. He made connections with various white supremacist leaders across the country including Matthew Heimbach and Richard Spencer, and eventually founded Identity Evropa with hopes that the organization could become a “respectable” face of white nationalism. Identity Evropa took inspiration from the staunchly racist and xenophobic Identitarian movement in Europe, and quickly began building its membership base in the US, hosting anti-immigrant demonstrations and putting up subtle propaganda in cities across the country. Identity Evropa was also one of the key groups that organized the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, VA. The two day rally began with a torch-lit march reminiscent of a KKK gathering, where marchers chanted the Nazi slogan “blood and soil” and surrounded and attacked a small group of people of color. The second day ended with a white supremacist ramming his car at full speed into a crowd of counter-protesters, killing one anti-racist activist and injuring many more. Damigo left Identity Evropa soon after the Unite The Right rally in an attempt to preserve the group’s reputation. Around the same time, a photo of an Identity Evropa member at the torch-lit  march went viral, and the group stopped wearing their signature outfit (a white polo shirt with the Identity Evropa logo) to further distance themselves from the violence at the rally and the public outcry it resulted in. Identity Evropa is one of several groups that are currently facing a lawsuit for their participation in organizing the Charlottesville rally.

More about Joseph Arrigo:

Joseph Arrigo’s involvement with Identity Evropa dates back to at least July of 2017. It’s unclear when exactly Arrigo became an official member, but on July 8th he was spotted attending a nationalist rally in Sacramento with other Identity Evropa members. He later posted a photo to twitter that featured himself and Nathan Damigo standing together at the rally.

Arrigo posing next to Identity Evropa’s founder, Nathan Damigo. The photo was posted to his Twitter account, @classicalfash.

Arrigo’s connection to Identity Evropa was further solidified on December 16th, 2017, when he showed up to an anti-sanctuary city demonstration in San Francisco with other IE members. Arrigo tried to keep a low profile, but never left the Identity Evropa contingent that day. At this point it became clear that he was officially part of the organization.

Joseph Arrigo (center right) with a baseball cap and sunglasses on at the anti-sanctuary city demonstration in SF

The December rally brought out other white supremacists like Patrick Little of Albany, CA, who just recently had an unsuccessful political run for Senate, and Christopher Locke from Roseville, CA, an overt neo-Nazi who spent over a month in 2017 terrorizing a reproductive health clinic in Sacramento. Sacramento and Bay area Proud Boys also made an appearance, along with other far right and anti-immigrant demonstrators.

Then, a few months later, Identity Evropa held their first national conference. It was hosted in Nashville, TN, and nearly 70 IE members attended the event- Joseph Arrigo among them. The conference featured speeches from a variety of white supremacist icons, including American Renaissance editor Jared Taylor and former Ku Klux Klan lawyer Sam Dickson, both of whom are members of the Council of Conservative Citizens, the white nationalist hate group that inspired Charleston church shooter Dylann Roof. Taylor praised IE members for being “smart, committed, sensible, and impressive in every way.”

Arrigo pictured in a group photo taken at the Identity Evropa conference.

Arrigo also has an active alt-right internet presence. He co-hosts the weekly Identitarian podcast Identity Rising and also has his own podcast, Operation Mockingbird. Stephen McNallen appeared as a guest speaker on one of the more recent episodes of Identity Rising.  McNallen is the leader of the Asatru Folk Assembly (AFA), a white supremacist variation of the Asatru pagan religion. Over the past few years, AFA has been kicked out of most pagan and heathen conferences and circles for their open embrace of white supremacist ideology. McNallen and Asatru Folk Assembly are connected with the Golden State Skinheads, the neo-Nazi gang responsible for stabbing multiple anti-racist protesters at their 2016 rally in Sacramento.

Arrigo also has several online accounts dedicated exclusively to posting alt-right and white supremacist material:

Twitter: @classicalfash

Instagram: @operationmb

Youtube: Operation Mockingbird

His activity on these accounts leaves no room for doubt about his personal beliefs:

Arrigo expressing his admiration for Adolf Hitler, whose birthday falls on April 20th, in a post on his Twitter account. #HH presumably stands for “heil Hitler”.

**The call-in campaign we issued back on 3/27 has come to an end! We got confirmation that Jason Judd’s employment at Sun System Technology has been terminated. Thank you to everyone who participated in  and supported our campaign! **

A printable poster with information about Jason Judd.

Jason Judd (alias Jason Kale) is a longtime Neo-Nazi and a member of the Golden State Skinheads (GSS). He is also associated with Hell’s Angels, the Traditionalist Worker Party (TWP), and the Hammerskins Nation. He was one of 20 GSS and TWP members who appeared at the 2016 neo-Nazi rally at the State Capitol in Sacramento, a demonstration that was ultimately shut down by a mobilization of 400+ anti-fascist counter-protesters. In the violent brawl that ensued, GSS members attacked counter-protesters with knives and sticks, specifically targeting visibly queer and non-white demonstrators. Judd himself was directly involved in the stabbings that occurred, grabbing a POC protester so that another Neo-Nazi could stab her. That particular antifascist sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized for 4 days.

Jason Judd (back center) wearing a TWP shirt and border patrol hat while holding an anti-fascist counter demonstrator from behind as another GSS member stabs her with a knife.

GSS and TWP members who attended the 2016 Nazi rally refer to themselves as “Sacramento Spartans”, and commonly wear a commemorative patch that depicts TWP( now a defunct group) member  William Scott Planer striking an antifascist protester with a pole. Judd has posted pictures of himself online wearing said patch, and the same imagery appears on a large “Sacramento Spartans” banner in his garage. Judd is clearly proud of his part in the racist attacks that took place that day.

Left: Jason Judd displaying the “Sacramento Spartans” patch on his motorcycle vest. Right: A “Sacramento Spartans” banner in Judd’s garage.

Jason Judd has an extensive criminal history that includes multiple arrests, prison time, and at least one restraining order. He is loud and proud about his Nazi affiliations, and his online posts exemplify his racist, anti-Semitic beliefs.

Anti-Semitic post on Judd’s Instagram account.

Until recently, Jason resided in North Highlands, CA, across the street from the American River College campus. He now lives with his partner and their two young children in Orangevale, a suburb of Sacramento. He works for a solar panel installation company based out of Rancho Cordova, and isn’t shy about being a Neo-Nazi even while on the job.

Left: Judd posing in front of a company vehicle. Right: Judd sporting a black sun symbol pin while at work. The black sun symbol is commonly used by American neo-Nazis and white supremacists, and has been associated with Nazism since the 1950’s.

The Solar Panel installation company that Judd works for is Sun System Technology. Please contact them and demand that they fire Jason Judd. When you call, DO NOT provide them with any personal information about yourself. This way, you prevent yourself from being identified by either Jason and his fellow GSS members, the company itself, and potentially Law Enforcement. To ensure your safety, we encourage you to utilize the tips and short script below:

“Hello, I’m calling to demand that Sun System Technology fire Jason Judd, the violent Neo-Nazi who aided a stabbing at the Capitol in 2016 and currently works at your company. We will continue calling, and making this known to the public, until he is fired. Goodbye.”

TIPS: block your number (#67, before phone number), keep it short, just hang up!

REMEMBER: This is a one way exchange of information. You do not have to answer any of their questions or provide them with any information outside of the script above.

Looking Back: Anti-Fascism in Northern California 2016-2017

Reposted from NoCARA

Anti-fascist mobilization against fascist convergence in Berkeley on August 27, 2017. Banner reads, “Avenge Charlottesville. Defend your communities.”

As mainstream media coverage of the anti-fascist struggle has skyrocketed over the last year, we’ve noticed that questions surrounding it have largely been confined to concern over a narrowly defined free speech. This has been accompanied by numerous, sometimes deliberate, misrepresentations. While narratives of violence have tended to be over-represented in accounts of anti-fascist and anti-racist organizing, reporting on the alt-right has been the opposite, downplaying the violence inherent to the recently re-energized white nationalist movement. Because clashes in Northern California between anti-fascists and white supremacists have captured so much media attention over the last year, we feel it necessary to place these incidents within their proper context.

Despite the fact that California is widely seen as a bastion of liberalism and tolerance, the state is in fact home to more active hate groups than any other in the country. FBI numbers indicate that reported hate crimes in California increased 11.2% from 2015 to 2016. The East Bay Express noted that Northern California cities consistently rank high on the FBI’s list, with San Leandro and Berkeley seeing a particularly notable spike during 2016. This has prompted UC Berkeley’s student paper, the Daily Californian, to join ProPublica’s Documenting Hate project in recording local incidents in Berkeley. Acts of racist vandalism were reported in the East Bay throughout 2017, and acts of anti-Semitism occurred in Alameda and public schools throughout the greater Bay Area. Similar evidence of growing far-right hatred and violence has been observed throughout the Central Valley. This mirrors patterns observed by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which recorded a surge of hate crimes across the United States following the election of Donald Trump in November 2016. According to the SPLC, alt-right killings began in California and 2017 has been the deadliest year yet for far-right violence. One violent neo-Nazi organization, the Atomwaffen Division, has been connected to several murders over the last year, including in California. This group has been shown to have a presence in Northern California specifically. Atomwaffen Division is inspired by James Mason’s book “Siege,” which is distributed by Counter-Currents, a white nationalist publisher based in San Francisco.

Below is a partial account of far-right and white supremacist activity that occurred throughout Northern California from 2016 to 2017. The mainstream media has tended to focus their reporting on more “spectacular” occurrences like clashes at rallies and university speaking events, but as we can see from the list below, the breadth of far-right action is much wider, ranging from flyering and recruitment campaigns to attacks and even brutal murder. When reflecting on these incidents, though this list is by no means complete, it becomes clear that university speaking tours and “free speech” rallies are only the tip of the iceberg. They exist within the larger context of a growing white supremacist movement, and are but a few of the many tactics that these groups employ. Researcher Spencer Sunshine similarly analyzed the far-right mobilization throughout the country in 2017 at Political Research Associates.

December:

Despite the growing threat of white supremacy and fascism, anti-racists and anti-fascists have kept up the fight and countered with organizing of their own. Groups patrolled their neighborhoods and campuses to remove hateful stickers, posters, and banner drops, replacing them with anti-fascist messages. Book fairs, community forums, and conferences like ROAR facilitated anti-fascist organizing and brought people together to share research, strategies, and history. Fundraising and benefit events strengthened solidarity and provided material support. Self-defense and bystander intervention trainings coupled with rapid response workshops enabled mass community defense against violent attacks. Research was done on local far-right groups and organizers, as well as those who enable them to recruit and push their politics into the mainstream. Call-in campaigns and boycotts targeted workplaces, bars and venues that supported fascists and their organizing efforts. Exposés on active alt-right organizers and aggressors were published, disrupting their activity and aiding local communities with knowledge of threats in their areas. John Ramondetta, Daniel Quillinan, and Cole White were all exposed to Berkeley residents as white supremacists, leading to Ramondetta moving out of his house and having trouble at work, while White lost his job entirely. Far-right street presence was also persistently confronted. Multitudes of people throughout Northern California showed up to counter rallies, marches, and speeches again and again. Many stepped up to do critical support work, providing dedicated hospital support, street medic care, court support and anti-repression work for those who faced charges or were wounded in the fight against fascism.

None of this activity relied on state sanction or protection. Instead, the most effective community self-defense came in the form of autonomous organizing across tendencies with a respect for differing strategies and tactics. Indeed, the state sees this kind of anti-fascist organizing as even more threatening than that of white supremacists. MuckRock analyzed reports showing that Homeland Security in Northern California has been more concerned with surveilling anti-fascists than neo-Nazis. Moreover, their intelligence takes for granted photoshopped alt-right propaganda and conspiracy theories as fact. Police in both Sacramento and Berkeley have actively aided far-right aggression against local communities. More often than not, the state’s strategy has been to protect white supremacists and increase repression against anti-fascists. Berkeley PD has been given more authority and weapons to contain protests, and Berkeley mayor Jesse Arreguin expressed that he thinks antifa should be classified as a gang. In Sacramento, police recommended hundreds of charges for anti-fascists after neo-Nazis stabbed protesters at their 2016 rally.

Police equipped with riot gear and body cameras during the June 26th neo-Nazi rally in Sacramento. Officers stood back during the brawl and later attempted to block street medics from treating stabbing victims. Tear gas and tasers were deployed against anti-fascists, while neo-Nazis were provided protection and police escorts.

This points to the contradiction between how fascist aggressions are handled by the state compared with the anti-fascist response to these aggressions. On one hand, far-right attacks are reported to police, whose statistics and data are referenced in reports of increased trends of white supremacist violence. On the other hand, it is clear that police are more interested in targeting and surveilling anti-fascists, all while they themselves continue to murder hundreds of people in the United States every year while bringing yet more into the ever-increasing racist mass incarceration system. The state’s response to anti-fascist organizing is just one more way in which it upholds white supremacy. If we are to organize against the threat of the alt-right effectively, it will be in spite of state interference, not because of it. This further establishes the need for autonomous community defense and response.

Looking back on the wave of white supremacist terror and violence that characterized 2016 and 2017, it is clear that we as anti-racists and anti-fascists must enter 2018 fighting harder than ever. Fascism may be on the rise, but so are we. The state cannot and will not protect us from this growing white supremacist threat, but if there’s one thing we’ve learned in the past two years, it’s that we have the tools we need to continue combating fascism and keep building the support networks necessary to keep each other safe. In the months and years to come, we will turn to each other and face the future with resolve to keep organizing, growing, and disrupting fascism wherever it arises.

**Updated** Sacramento Attorney Danny Brace Defends Neo-Nazi William Planer

**Danny Brace is no longer William Planer’s attorney. It has been brought to our attention that simply due to Danny Brace and William Planer not being able to agree on a defense strategy that they decided to part ways. Brace wished Planer good luck and officially quit prior to Planers February 23rd court appearance and on that day Michelle Spaulding was retained as Planer’s new attorney on record. A private attorney from the Spaulding and Campi law firm located at 901 H st. , suite #200, Michelle Spaulding apparently did agree with Planer that they should in fact take on the self defense strategy and are now preparing for the upcoming trial. Michelle Spaulding clearly has no problem taking the money that the now defunct Traditionalist Worker Party (TWP) raised for Planers legal defense thanks to the help and donations from white supremacists from all over the country. If you visit our Facebook page you’ll be able to learn all about how you can join our campaign to let Michelle Spaulding know that this is exactly the type of Nazi collaboration we will not tolerate here in Sacramento! Thanks so much for the support everyone! **

On June 26th of last year, members of the Neo-Nazi gang the Golden State Skinheads (GSS) and the Traditionalist Worker Party (TWP) stormed the California State Capital grounds after an overwhelming turnout of antifascist protesters cancelled their rally. The Neo-Nazis came armed with bats, shields, knives, and guns, and sent 9 individuals to the hospital, many of whom sustained critical injuries and stab wounds. Of the twenty Neo-Nazis present that day, one, William Scott Planer, is currently facing charges.

Sacramento County Jail booked Planer on September 9th after being extradited from the El Paso County Jail in Colorado Springs, where he’d been held since July 14th of this year. He was originally arrested and charged with vandalizing the Chabad Lubavitch of Southern Colorado after being caught on camera affixing a sticker to the door of the synagogue that read “fight terror, nuke Israel” late one night. El Paso Country Jail held him for nearly two months on $500,000 bail and a “fugitive from justice” hold. The hold as a result of a warrant due for his arrest out of Sacramento, where he’s charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor riot for the attacks he participated in on June 26th. The vandalism case in Colorado is now behind him, and the case here in Sacramento is underway.

Planer is affiliated with both the Golden State Skinheads (GSS) and the Traditionalist Worker Party (TWP). As a highly active and well connected member of the White Nationalist movement, the Nazis did not forget him after his arrest in Colorado and subsequent incarceration. Soon after his arrest, the leaders of TWP, Matthew Heimbach and Matt Parrot, launched a crowd funding campaign to raise money for his bail and legal defense using the now-defunct crowdfunding platform Rootbocks.com, a website commonly used by white supremacists and Neo-Nazis due to its anti-censorship mission. Rootbocks’ web host shut down the site on August 14th and cut off by its payment service, and despite attempts to find a new web host, it remains offline. It is unclear if those doing Planer’s support work ever obtained the the money raised by the campaign, but the fundraiser page itself no longer exists. However, while Planer’s defense fund was still up, almost $15,000 was raised. The money came from supporters from all over the world, many of whom left comments about their support for and commitment to the white nationalist cause on the fundraiser page after donating.

As well as being the leader of TWP, Matt Parrot is also one of the founders of the Traditionalist Youth Network (TYN), a group that promotes white supremacy.

Here’s a screenshot of three of the donations to the online William Planer defense fund. If you notice in the top comment the number 88 is a popular number among white nationalists because H is the eighth letter of the alphabet, so the 88 ends up standing for “Heil Hitler”.

Upon arriving at the Sacramento County Jail, William Planer’s bail was raised to $600,000. As a twice-convicted felon looking at his third strike if convicted in his current case, it’s clear he’s going to need a good lawyer. So, the local members of GSS, the leaders of TWP, and the white nationalist movement as a whole, managed to hire long standing Sacramento lawyer Danny D. Brace to represent William Planer. As stated on his website, bracelaw.com, the law firm that Danny Brace practices out of which has been in the same location since 1984. It takes a certain kind of person to willingly represent a Neo-Nazi who participated in assaults and stabbings of anti-racist protesters, but given Brace’s track record, no one should be surprised. Affectionately referred to as “Dump Truck Dan” by past clients burned by his poor performance, Danny Brace has a history of working for those who commit racist violence. As recently as three years ago he represented Joseph Paul Leonard, a man tried for committing the racially motivated murder of Toussaint Harrison and the attempted murder of Toussaint’s friend, Justin Oliphant. After just two days of deliberation, the jury convicted Leonard of both first degree murder and attempted murder, both with a hate crime enhancement, and sentenced to 32 to life.

Now, Brace is solidifying his reputation as defender of racist scum by representing a violent Neo-Nazi. It is unacceptable that Brace is accepting the money of Neo-Nazis and White Nationalists in exchange for defending a known white supremacist, especially one who has attacked anti-racist protesters and sent them to the hospital. These actions cannot go unopposed. Help us spread the word about Brace, who he is funded by, and the kinds of people he likes to defend- you can leave reviews of Danny Brace and Brace Law on Yelp, Google, and Yellow Pages. His law firm is located at 901 H St, suite 500, Sacramento CA, 95814, the office phone number is (916) 447-0592, and Danny Brace’s email is dbrace@bracelaw.com. Feel free to get in touch with him and let him know how you feel about him accepting the money of white supremacists and defending a violent Neo-Nazi.

The wounding of 9 anti-racist protesters on June 26th of 2016 did not happen in a vacuum. The actions that William Planer participated in and that Danny Brace is defending are part of a broader fascist movement being pushed forward by white supremacist groups in the United States. The stabbings by members of the Golden State Skinheads are directly connected to the violence that took place in Charlottesville, Virginia when a white supremacist ran his vehicle into a crowd of anti-racist protesters, killing the protestor Heather Heyer, and injuring many more. They are directly connected to the hate crimes, shootings, murders, and attempted murders that are cropping up all over the nation. They are affiliated with a White Nationalist movement that puts immigrants, protesters, and black, brown, and queer communities under threat of violence. More than that, their actions are rooted in the history of white supremacy that stains the soil of this stolen land. We cannot expect the state to protect us from this threat, not when the state itself is one of the greatest enforcers and producers of the racist social order. William Planer sits in a jail cell because the state seeks to maintain a monopoly on violence, not because his actions go against its principles. We must look to each other and fight back, nationally and locally. White supremacists and those who would defend them must be opposed and disrupted at every stage of their organizing, by any means available.

Antifascist Action T-Shirts Are Here!

Between preparing for state repression and supporting our comrades as they fight their cases, Antifa Sacramento has had a lot to keep up with this summer. Now, with the Torch Conference fast approaching, we have more support roles to fill than ever. So, we’re excited to announce a new way that you can help us fill those roles and get some sweet merch out of the deal, too!

We just got our first batch of locally designed and printed antifascist T-shirts, and we’re selling them for $15 each on our newly launched fundraiser. We’re not sure yet if or when we’ll have more made, so if you want one make sure you donate before they’re all gone!

We’ll be splitting the money we raise 50/50 between a local antifascist cause and a national one.

Half of what we raise will be donated to the bail fund of Mike Williams, an antifascist and Brown Beret who is one of three people fighting charges for standing up against Neo-Nazis in Sacramento last summer. Mike is indebted to several community members who generously fronted money for his release, and we seek to minimize this financial burden for him as much as possible. Having a legal battle to fight is stressful enough- there’s no reason he should have to worry about debt on top of everything else.

The other half of what we raise will be going to the Torch Network to help fund their annual antifascist conference. The Torch Network has allowed for greater connections, resources, and infrastructure among antifascist groups nationally, and this year’s conference is all the more important to our organizing given the current political climate. Hosting a national antifascist conference is not cheap, and as a Torch chapter, Antifa Sacramento is committed to taking on some of the necessary fundraising.

So, show your support for antifascist actions! You can pick up a T-shirt on our fundraiser page here.

When State Repression Hits: Our Official Statement

Ever since the successful shutdown of the Neo-Nazi rally in June of last year, Antifa Sacramento has been ceaselessly preparing for the impending threat of state repression to come down on our community. Now, that repression has materialized in the form of a series of arrests targeting some of the brave individuals who risked life and limb to oppose fascism on State Capitol grounds.

Our comrades are now facing serious charges. This persecution is an attempt by the state to silence our movement, to silence dissent against the fascist creep.

We will not be silenced.

Instead, we will continue to oppose fascism in all of its forms, both state level and street level. We will support our comrades through their legal battles with unyielding determination. We pledge to have their backs- no antifascist left behind. Just as we fought back against the threat of Neo-Nazis taking to the streets of Sacramento, so too will we fight back against the authoritarian threats made by the state and its enforcers.

Check our website and Facebook page in the coming weeks to stay updated on ways that you can stand with us and support the antifascists who are currently facing charges. Together, we can fight back against state repression and show our comrades that they have the support they need to stay strong and keep up the fight in this difficult time.

June 26th Anniversary: We Vowed To Shut It Down, And We Did.

Join us in remembering the events of June 26th, 2016, when anti-fascists bravely prevented white supremacists from rallying in Sacramento, California. Despite a massive police presence and near-deadly stabbings by neo-nazi skinheads, people from all over Northern California held it down and ran the fascist scum out. Now, a year later, we are releasing a poster ready for you to download, print and distribute in commemoration of that day.   We honor the sacrifices of the past and look to the future with resistance and determination in our hearts. Together, we will continue to fight fascism and oppression. The struggle is far from over.

In unyielding solidarity with those working to expose and oppose fascism across the country and around the globe. We stand with you.

June 26th: Resisting State Repression

In early March, the California Highway Patrol completed its investigation of the anti-Nazi shutdown that happened in Sacramento last June, forwarding a 2,000-page report to the District Attorney’s Office. Law enforcement is urging the DA to charge 106 individuals with 514 misdemeanors and 68 felonies over the stoppage of the white nationalist rally that happened nearly a year ago at the State Capitol. While the intent here is no doubt to scare people, there is still a legitimate threat directed at our community. With this in mind, we would like to humbly offer these suggestions to prepare for the repression that the state has in store. This statement is intended for any anti-racist and anti-fascist protesters who attended the anti-Nazi demo on June 26, 2016, but it is also relevant to anyone in the same communities as those who attended.

If you were present at the counter-demonstration on June 26th or you’re connecting to people who are, here are some steps you can take right now to prepare for potential repression:

First off, DO NOT speculate (especially online) about whether you or anyone else will be among those who are charged! Law enforcement often publicize concerning information (like they did when they turned their recommendations to press charges into a media spectacle) to stir things up in hopes of causing panic. The authorities very well may have no idea if you were involved, so don’t give them any additional information! Don’t announce to the world that you were there, and don’t talk about anything you witnessed or participated in.

Clean up your internet presence. Any of us involved in anti-fascist organizing or socially connected to anti-fascist activists should do this, regardless of your involvement in the demo on June 26th. Anyone who gets targeted, arrested or otherwise outed by the media as an anti-fascist protester will be heavily doxxed by the alt-right and like-minded groups. This means that any information that can be gathered on you will be publicized and used against you- often with the intent of stalking, physical or psychological harm, or aiding law enforcement in prosecution. Malicious parties will often harass family members, affiliations, and work places of those they are looking to target. Taking preventative measures is the best way to protect yourself from these kinds of attacks. For this reason, we recommend you -at the very least- take the time to scrub any mention of your address, phone number and place of employment from the internet. Often, this information is stored in online address books and lookup sites without your consent, and can be easily accessed by anyone who knows where to look. You should also lock down all of your social media accounts (ideally removing yourself from social media altogether) and remove any pictures of yourself that can be accessed publicly. Limit the amount of information you post, and take time to make private or delete all online accounts you use or have used. This includes but is not limited to facebook, twitter, instagram, youtube, and yes, even that dating profile you made five years ago and totally forgot about. It’s also a good idea to alert your family and close affiliates to do the same. Here’s an article on IGD that explains how to go about doing all this.

If you do get charged with a felony, authorities may come to your home
or work place to arrest you. Memorize the Sacramento National Lawyers Guild phone number (916) 500-4NLG(654). In the event that you or someone you know is arrested on charges stemming from the June 26th rally, please call this number. The only way legal support and support from the wider movement can be mobilized for you is if we know you’re in custody!

Get your personal affairs in order. The NLG has offered their limited capacity to help with legal issues, but it’s up to you to prepare the rest of your life in the event that you abruptly find yourself in jail. Some things to consider include:

  • Memorize the number of a friend or family member who can serve as your emergency contact
  • Have a plan for who will take care of your children or pets
  • Have a plan for someone to call your job/school/etc. and what they will tell your boss/teacher etc
  • Have spare keys available to your support contact, especially to a car that might need to be moved.

Pay attention to your mailbox for court summons. If you are charged with a misdemeanor you will likely be informed of your court date by mail. Look out for this mail at any address you might have associated with you. Get in touch with the NLG if you receive a court summons. Do not personally call the district attorney to inquire about potential charges.

At no point should you talk to the police! Take some time to learn about
the tricks and intimidation tactics police and other law enforcement use
to get you to talk. We recommend practicing what you will say when in a police encounter, be it on the street, at your front door, while being
interrogated in jail, or anywhere: “I have nothing to say to you.” Do
not say “I don’t know” or be tempted to say things you think are
harmless. Anything you say can be used against you or others.
Please take some time to read this zine for helpful insights on police
encounters.

Whether or not you attended the anti-fascist rally in Sacramento on June 26th, and whether or not you end up facing charges,we must all make the commitment to have each others’ backs! In the likely event that prosecution is pursued, the accused will need a lot of support. Bail money, transportation to court appearances, court support, jail visits, ongoing pet/childcare, the list goes on. It is essential that we all take a stance of total refusal in cooperating with the state’s investigations and targeting of people in our movements and communities. This includes refusing any questioning from police, taking care to not post incriminating information online, and making the commitment to resist grand juries by refusing to testify. By taking up a collective stance of noncooperation, we weaken the state’s power against us and avoid preventable harm and repression from befalling ourselves and our comrades.

Please spread this post far and wide! Share it with your friends, organizations, housemates, and family. Have conversations about how you can prepare, support one another, and keep each other safe. By educating ourselves and being there for each other, we can strengthen our community’s defense against state repression and the far right.

Local Anarchist-Turned-Nationalist Takes to Terrorizing Reproductive Health Clinic

Chris posing in front of one of his Confederate flags. Note the Neo-Nazi message in the bottom right hand corner of his notebook- WPWW, or white power world wide, and 14/88, a common white supremacist code for the 14 words and heil Hitler, respectively.

Many activists in the Sacramento area are already familiar with the exploits of Christopher Alden Locke, a local nationalist, christofascist, closet case, and compulsive liar extraordinaire who got his start as a gay rights activist and Anarchist. Chris has a history of lying and unpredictable behavior that dates back to long before he even came out as a nationalist and Neo-Nazi supporter. Now, Chris has taken up arms against a local reproductive health clinic in a string of disturbing events ranging from extreme stalking to a possible connection to a recent break in. The community must put an end to his reign of terror before it goes any further, and the first step is exposing him for what he truly is.

Not-So-Humble Beginnings

Chris started out as the complete antithesis to the homophobic, white supremacist, Christian extremist, nationalist scum he is today. He began as a young gay rights and marijuana legalization activist, organizing a small protest in Roseville in support of marriage equality in 2009.

Chris’s old twitter from 2009, @gayartist916.

A year later, he appeared on the Sacramento scene as a self-described Anarchist, known for his involvement in Occupy, the local Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) branch, and a queer Anarchist affinity group known as B(A)SH Back. Chris’s old Facebook account from this period features several photos of him attending protests and masking up. He also praised Anarchist, Communist, and Anti-Fascist ideals in many of his posts.

Chris’s Facebook page from 2010 tells a very different story than his social media today.

He routinely traveled to anarchist events throughout the valley and bay area, spreading self-aggrandizing lies wherever he went. His outlandish claims were many, but he was written off as a young person with low self-esteem who was trying to find himself and seek approval from his community. During this period, Chris bragged that he was being indicted for firebombing a slaughterhouse in Oregon, a claim that we can safely assume is completely fabricated given the overwhelming lack of evidence. Around the same time, Chris also claimed to have stowed away on an Airforce cargo plane to Egypt, making his way into Palestine through Ramallah. Needless to say, the unlikelihood of anyone managing such a stunt paired with Chris’s extensive dirty laundry list tells us everything we need to know about whether or not he actually pulled it off. These are just two examples out of many that illustrate Chris’s willingness from the start to not only lie casually, but to throw any semblance of believability to the wind in the hopes of positioning himself favorably in his chosen community. As we will come to show, it is more than clear that this pattern of lying to gain social status has carried on after his exit from the leftist community.

Chris also continued to openly identify as a gay man while he was involved in activism, talking at length about romantic encounters with other men. This is a far leap from his current use of homophobic slurs, opposition to trans rights and gay marriage, and self-proclaimed love of and fetish for BBW (big beautiful women), as seen in his social media posts. Our sources have uncovered many more graphic documentations of  Chris’s closeted sexuality, but we have the decency not to publicize them.

Chris in 2009 vs Chris in 2016. Can you spot the difference?

Chris proclaiming his love for BBW on Facebook, shortly after becoming a nationalist and going back into the closet.

The Birth of a Fascist

Some time around 2013, Chris left California to visit his family out of state for several months. Chris himself holds that his family lives in Georgia, But those who knew him during that time remember it as a visit to Arkansas. When he returned, he underwent a drastic identity crisis. In the spring of 2013 he came out as a nationalist, was shunned by his old friends, and fell into the stalking and unpredictable behavior that we know him for today. That winter, Chris also got sober from meth amphetamine (as far as we know) through the 12-step program, and simultaneously began reading the diaries of Joseph Goebbels, Reich Minister of Propaganda in Nazi Germany and Hitler’s right hand man. It is unclear whether Chris’s complete ideological 180 was caused by social/family pressure, mental instability, or both. His breakdown and subsequent reinvention left his previous friends with endless questions. Many wondered if he was an informant or infiltrator all along, or what he would do with his knowledge of the activist community now that he had switched sides. The local IWW branch, of which Chris was a member, ejected him and temporarily disbanded in part due to fears of infiltration. They also wrote a post denouncing him and warning others of his behavior. Chris himself commented on this post, claiming to have been a right-wing infiltrator all along. We find this unlikely, given Chris’s ongoing instability and clear lack of strong principles or identity.

IWW’s PSA. Chris identifies himself as a white nationalist in the comments- now, he takes care to call himself an “American nationalist”.

Anticapitalist and Anti-Fascist Facebook page Fon Du Lac Underclass responded in kind with a warning of their own.

A warning about Chris from the Facebook page Fon Du Lac Underclass.

Tensions between Chris and the Occupy movement finally came to a head in December of 2013, when Occupy supported McDonald’s workers who were striking for better pay. Chris posted to Facebook urging his friends to eat at McDonald’s on the day of the strike, and he himself showed up at the same store that Occupy was protesting outside of, stopping to videotape protestors and crossing a picket line to purchase a meal. Thereafter, Chris could often be found at leftist protests videotaping and surveying, a pattern that has continued to this day. He also began sharing posts to social media solidifying his hatred for leftists.

Chris continued spiraling further and further down this path of white supremacy, and has declared sympathy and support for countless openly racist, fascist, and Neo-Nazi groups.

Chris showing support for a variety of violent extremists and hate groups, including the Three Percenters, Blood and Honour, White Lives Matter, Matthew Heimbach of the Tradionalist Workers Party, and Golden Dawn.

He also expressed support for the Traditionalist Workers Party and the Golden State Skins after they were prevented from holding their rally at the State Capitol on June 26th and subsequently attacked their opposition. Chris was at the rally filming, and left as soon as the fighting broke out. He claims that he was accompanied by his infant daughter that day, who would have been around 5 months old at the time. Chris will definitely be winning the parent of the year award for that one. After the event, he affixed a Traditionalist Workers Party logo to his car.

Nice American flag shirt, ya dweeb!

Talk Shit, Get Hit

The 26th wasn’t Chris’s only run-in with Antifa. Chris has been spewing anti-Antifa rhetoric for longer than there has even been a chapter in Sacramento, and we’ve been aware of him from the start. He has made several videos dedicated to us (how sweet!), and countless accusations against us. Multiple times, he has blamed Antifa Sacramento for supposed threats made to him and his family by random trolls who have no affiliation with us.

We challenge Chris to verify these supposed threats and their connection to our organization.

Chris had what very well may be his second face-to-face encounter with Antifa on January 20th, 2017, which is likely what prompted the above social media campaign against us. On January 20th, Sacramento leftists took to the streets for the national #J20 Inauguration Day protests. Chris found out about the event when posters were pasted up in the weeks leading up to it. He was a newly-turned Trump supporter at the time, and the posters infuriated him to the point that he made nighttime trips to tear them down. On the day of, the protest had a sizeable black bloc- Antifa among them. The procession marched to the Capitol, and of course, who was there but Chris and friends? Chris and several other ill-prepared nationalists stood off to the side, at one point unfurling a Gadson Flag. In a stroke of truly horrible planning, they carried the flag across the stage setup where a speech was taking place, and straight into the black bloc which had gathered on the other side. The bloc crowded them, forcing them back against a nearby shrub wall. Tensions were threatening to boil over when CHP swooped in, forming a police escort to rescue Chris and his friends. Later, Chris uploaded several videos from the day, including a recap shot in his car in which he thanks the police for saving his sorry ass.

Polarization Without Conviction

Chris’s crossover from leftist to fascist was far from his last switch-off. In fact, Chris has an extensive, well-documented history of saying and believing in whatever he feels will best serve him at the time, more often than not to the point of contradiction. What does Chris actually believe? Well, it’s a bit of a mystery. All we can really know is what he thinks he believes, although that changes from day to day. Underneath the hardened American bad boy persona that Chris tries so desperately to uphold, it’s clear that he’s just as lost and insecure as he was when he was trying to find himself in the Occupy Movement. Chris may continue to grasp at whatever ideology he thinks could fill the gap where his sense of self and belonging should be, but these changes have only ever been surface level. Chris is far more concerned with presenting himself in a way that will gain the approval of those he aligns with, whoever they may be, rather than actually embodying beliefs with any lasting conviction. A perfect example of this is his change in position throughout the recent election.

In the beginning, Chris was firmly in the #nevertrump camp. He chose to support Ted Cruz for his pro-Christian, anti-Muslim beliefs instead, voting for him in the primaries and proclaiming that he would write in Cruz for the final election.

Chris expressing his support of Cruz during the primaries.

He showed hatred, contempt, and disgust for Trump and his supporters on social media, mocking them and sharing endless anti-Trump posts.

Chris professing extreme anti-Trump sentiments on Twitter and Facebook, including one meme calling Trump a racist and a fascist.

Chris’s car in May of 2016.

He even went so far as to decorate his car (which has since been totaled) with anti-Trump and anti-Hilary messages.

It is unclear if Chris voted for Trump or Cruz in the general election. What is clear is that he was vehemently against Trump until it became apparent that this stance would isolate him from other right-wing extremists and align him with leftist protestors, a group he loathes. After the election, Chris uploaded a video to his Youtube channel praising Trump’s victory. He began posting Pro-Trump propaganda to his Facebook page, and even purchased a Make America Great Again hat. He wore this hat while filming multiple local anti-Trump protests, in line with his tradition of stalking leftist events.

What happened, Chris?

He also attended and promoted the Sacramento MAGA March, schmoozing with people he once posted about with disdain and positioning himself as a staunch Trump supporter in order to make connections with other local white nationalists. Chris left this blatant white supremacist sticker featuring a swastika on the route of the march during the event, further solidifying his Neo-Nazi ties.

A sticker left by Chris, easily identifiable by his tagging style.

Once A Liar…

One of the most telling things about a person is what they’re willing to lie about, and as we’ve seen in the past, for Chris the sky is the limit. Interestingly enough, Chris never mentioned having been enlisted in the military to anyone during all the years he rubbed shoulders with leftists, although a key part of his current identity is his Iraq veteran status. In fact, we couldn’t find Chris mention any sort of military veteran status until as late as 2016.

We don’t want to completely rule out the possibility that Chris is in fact a veteran, especially given that his paranoid and often delusional fantasies (namely of us) line up with the symptoms of Combat PTSD. However, given the timeline we have pinned down thus far, it simply isn’t likely. At what point would he have been deployed? He states he is an Iraq veteran- the war began in 2003, and all combat troops were formally withdrawn by the end of 2011. If he was deployed before his first stint into activism in 2009, why did he never mention it throughout his years as a radical leftist? Knowing Chris’s need for social affirmation, especially during that time, it’s doubtful he’d avoid mentioning something that would make him seem more tough and exciting. And if he wasn’t deployed before 2009, then when would he have been? from 2009 to 2013, Chris was seen regularly at leftist events in California. He did leave for several months to visit family, but that was in 2012 or 2013, after troops were withdrawn from Iraq. And, as we just mentioned, he never indicated that he was a veteran at all (at least as far as we know) until 2016. Before then he often posted in support of vets and thanked them on his youtube channel, but never claimed to be one. In fact, in November of 2016, Chris uploaded multiple videos of a festive Veteran’s Day Parade that he attended in Sacramento. Shortly after, in December of 2016 and January of 2017, we begin to see claims of being a veteran peppered into Chris’s tweets more and more frequently. The tweets start out ambiguous enough, but, presumably as Chris becomes more comfortable with his lie, they become increasingly extraordinary. By late January, he is fueling flame wars with stories of getting his stomach ripped open by an IED to one-up people on twitter.

Chris raking in those sweet, sweet veteran brownie points. All we have to say? Prove it.

Sure, there could be a chance that Chris is telling the truth. But how likely is that, really? What seems a lot more likely is that he’s after social status and admiration, as per usual. To fully encapsulate this pattern, let’s rewind back to 2010-2012. In anarchist circles, those who risk prison fighting for their beliefs are highly revered, so Chris attempted to pass himself off as just that. Now, he is doing the same thing in nationalist circles, but instead he is trying to pass himself off as a veteran. His self-indulgent twitter posts make it clear just what need this fills for him, furthering our argument. How much has Chris really changed? Well, he’s gotten more dangerous and more unstable, to start with.

From Activist to Terrorist

Chris Locke’s latest trajectory is his most alarming to date. Chris has always been a liar and a hypocrite, but until recently, his actions have never caused us to feel that he is an immediate threat to others. Now, it is clear that he is in fact an active danger to the community. Chris has been a Christian extremist since he came out as a nationalist, and as such he is strongly against abortion. Recently, he joined local anti-choice religious groups to participate in 40 Days for Life, a 40-day-long call to action by Christian anti-abortion groups that encourages constant, 24-hr protests at clinics that provide abortion services. Susan Money, the Sacramento lead of 40 Days for Life, has taken Chris under her wing. He refers to her as his “adopted mother” in his Youtube videos. The group has held near-daily protests attempting to shame, guilt, and intimidate staff and patients alike at a local medical center that provides many different types of reproductive care, including abortions. Chris has visited the protest site almost every day since the second week of March, often for most of the day. He is sometimes accompanied by his friend Tom. Chris has also filmed clinic escorts and license plate numbers, dumping the information to his Youtube channel.

Chris’s online documentation of the anti-choice action, including several Youtube videos in which he waxes conspiratorial about where “aborted baby parts” go.

To whoever wrote “science, you fuck”, we see you. Please carry on.

Multiple anti-choice stickers were also found at the location, all in Chris’s distinctive graffiti lettering style.

Most disturbing are two videos taken outside the clinic at night. Chris circles the perimeter with his friend Tom in tow, pointing out features of the building and talking in an agitated tone about murdered babies. One of the videos ends in Chris saying “If that’s under construction, lets make it quick… See you later, peace out! We’re going to go have some fun tonight.”

The two videos Chris uploaded of his nighttime activities.

It’s clear that Chris has taken it to the next level, and his volatile, unpredictable nature makes the situation all the more serious. We interviewed a staff member at the clinic to get the full story. She revealed to us that the clinic had actually been broken into on March 18th, which is well within the time frame that Chris has been making his late-night visits. “A rock was thrown through the door of Suite 200,” she said, “the admin side of the clinic. The door was shattered.” The clinic was both vandalized and robbed that night, according to our source. “It’s also worth mentioning that the corridor Chris has been filming is not the clinic, which we (the staff) find suspicious.” She went on. “Our clinic does not have covered windows, and the doors are clearly labeled.” We also learned from this staff contact that Chris ran into a volunteer escort at school, and then publicized the information on his Youtube channel. “He saw one of the escorts at the library at [their campus], and talks about it on one of the videos. He started filming the escorts more and more and posting it to Youtube.” She informed us. “Until I saw the videos I didn’t think much of him- he just sort of stares us down.” When asked for any final comments, she expressed deep concern for her fellow staff members and for the clinic’s patients in light of Chris’s erratic and unstable behavior. “He has us all very shaken up. A few staff members have stopped leaving after dark because of his late night filming pattern. We get to know our regular protesters pretty well, and his atypical behavior and affiliation with other extreme groups/ideologies scares the staff. Abortion clinics have long since been victims of arson, shootings, bomb threats, etc, so anyone with extreme ideologies who also seems unhinged is perceived and treated as a very real threat to our personal safety and the safety of our patients.”

This serious treatment is not unwarranted- Chris could definitely be described as ‘unhinged’. He goes on a misogynistic rant while brandishing a machete in one of his Youtube videos, and he has also posted to social media about stocking up on ammunition. Chris claims he has obtained a license to carry in the State of California, and has also stated that he has a sidearm and a knife on his person at all times.

Chris brandishing a machete at his audience, posting his new ammo purchase to twitter, and informing the world of his permit to carry.

On March 31st, two FBI agents stopped Chris and questioned him while his car was parked outside of the clinic that day.

However, not even this could deter him, and the next day he posted a selfie to his twitter confirming that he was back to his usual nighttime routine.

Chris, back at the clinic after being questioned about his activities by the FBI.

Some of the information Chris has provided in his various social media profiles. Much of this information has been verified, but his hometown and veteran status are doubtful.

Chris is 29 years old and lives in the Roseville area. He claims to attend UC Davis, but as we have found no evidence of this it likely isn’t true. He is currently in a relationship with Whitney Richardson. Chris has been engaged in an ongoing legal battle with a past partner over joint custody of their daughter, and has slandered her and her family on social media. Chris claims to live on the same street as his ex-wife and daughter, “watching them like a hawk” under the guise of protecting them from manufactured threats. Chris’s current vehicle is a Nissan Versa, license plate number is 8AWJ001. He drives for Uber and Lyft, and his car can be easily identified by a number of far right/neo-Nazi bumper stickers affixed to the back. Chris frequents the 24 Hr Fitness in Roseville, and often can be found watching trains at the Roseville Rail Yard. We have also secured several other pieces of information including Chris’s home address, which we will be releasing at our leisure.

In Conclusion

Chris is the kind of person who is quick to jump on whatever bandwagon will make him feel like he’s part of something, and equally quick to follow whatever gives him a sense of identity. It’s truly unfortunate that the bandwagon Chris ended up on involves a plethora of violent, oppressive ideologies that cause him to take such hateful and harmful actions. We hope that Chris gets the help he desperately needs, and maybe even begins to live as his authentic self one day. His current unstable and ego-driven state is a testament to how far he’s fallen. However, there is no denying that as he stands, Chris Locke is not only fascist scum, but also an urgent threat to our community. We hope he isn’t stupid enough to try anything else, because we will definitely hear about it. and there’s so much information we haven’t even shared in this article, just waiting to be divulged!

Nazi Crew Responsible for Sacramento Stabbings to Co-Organize Trump March on 3/25

ALERT: The Sacramento Make America Great Again March, which will have multiple right-wing extremists and Neo-Nazis in attendance, including several who have a direct history of stabbing activists,  is scheduled for the same day as the annual Cesar Chavez March. If you are planning on attending the Cesar Chavez March on Saturday, March 25th, take every precaution to stay safe in the streets. Do not travel alone, and be on the lookout for fascist activity. These groups are violent and unpredictable, and there is no telling what they may have planned. Don’t allow the threat of their violence to prevent you from attending, but do plan on being on high alert throughout the day.

Almost 8 months have passed since the bloody escalation at the California State Capitol in Sacramento on June 26th. The failed Neo-Nazi rally was attempted by the Traditionalist Worker Party (TWP) and the Golden State Skins (GSS), and was decisively shut down by Anti-Fascist and anti-racist protesters. This came at the cost of 6 anti-racists who suffered stab wounds inflicted by GSS members who were representing the TWP in California. GSS members clashed with a handful of the over 400 protesters who had occupied the capital grounds from earlier in the morning. The protesters were determined to deny the fascists their meager rally, which some members traveled from as far as Southern California and Colorado to attend.

Now, the same group of Neo-Nazis is gearing up for and organizing towards the MAGA rally in Sacramento on Saturday, March 25th. The primary organizer associated with the public face of this event is Alicia Helene Clayton, aka Alicia Peterson (32) of Citrus Heights. She has gained the support of a wide variety of camps in the Trump fandom, spanning the range from more traditional conservatives and nationalists to self-identifying Deplorables, a subset of the greater alt-right movement with which Clayton identifies (though Deplorables have superficially tried to distance themselves from the alt-right for its overt white supremacist politics), and even overt white supremacist factions such as the GSS, a gang of traditionally violent racist skinheads.

Clayton has announced that various right-wing biker, paramilitary, and pro-Trump patriot groups will attend the rally and take on security functions. The location of the march has been the subject of some controversy, with three different possible locations surfacing throughout its development. The MAGA March event page originally listed the starting location as the State Capitol, boasting of a permitted event featuring live music and free food. Not long after, we received a copy of an email stating that the event would instead begin at Sutter’s Fort, nearly 20 blocks away. The email hinted that more details on the actual march location and route would be released to the event page on Friday afternoon. Finally, on Friday, a new flyer was posted listing the final location as McKinley Park. Promises of free food had devolved into “bring your own hot dogs”, and live music had been replaced by guest speakers. It is worth noting that we cannot be certain which (if any) of these locations is legitimate. Of course, neither can any of the events would-be attendees.

Patriots, Deplorables, and Neo-Nazi Skinheads

In the weeks leading up to the rally, Clayton called for small pro-Trump and nationalistic rallies in the Sacramento area, including rallies at the intersection of Sunrise Blvd. and Greenback Ln. in Citrus Heights. Multiple GSS members, as well as a violent Trump supporter who was recently photographed threatening people with a knife on March 4th in Berkeley participated in these rallies. Clayton herself has made several posts praising the violent fascist and thrice convicted felon Kyle “Based Stick Man” Chapman who gained celebrity in alt-right circles for attacking Anti-Fascist protesters.

A key part of the on-ground approach employed by increasingly emboldened grassroots white supremacist factions has been to shroud their more vulgar politics with traditionally socially acceptable forms of racism and bigotry, typically expressed through American exceptionalist nationalism and militarism and its associated rhetoric and symbols. This false front grants them the cover to push their more overt and vulgar white supremacist politics while avoiding being quickly disavowed by mainstream conservatism, which generally prefers to uphold white supremacy in a more subtle way, relying on more structural and ideologically obfuscated approaches. Simultaneously hiding behind and claiming kinship with mainstream American conservatism is also a part of their entryist political strategy- many radical white supremacists are moving to try to radicalize a broader group of ideologically aligned individuals by meeting them where they’re at and playing at participating in their politics.

Alicia Clayton livestreaming from one of her rallies

It is in this context that we must examine the actions of both Alicia Clayton and the GSS members participating in the organizing of the 3/25 rally. As a “deplorable”, Clayton walks the blurry line between the alt-right and mainstream conservatism. Thus, while she may publicly support and celebrate violent fascists like Chapman, her rally is centered around parroting watered-down, non-objectionable patriotic dogma about military veterans and police to appeal to mainstream conservatives. The same goes for GSS members who participate in these rallies posing as average nationalists with less overt Neo-Nazi politics. This cover of supposed innocence is used to manipulate the public narrative, painting Anti-Fascist opposition to Neo-Nazis and their genocidal and anti-egalitarian social goals as being authoritarian and “anti-free speech.” It’s important that Anti-Fascists not just physically confront Neo-Nazis in the streets, but also challenge the prevailing notions of so-called free speech itself, and how that concept functions under a State that is structurally white supremacist to the core, where only certain types of people have the luxury of believing in and benefiting from it.

The Golden State Skinheads

Since the events that unfolded on June 26th, Anti-Fascists from all over Northern California and beyond have been carrying out an extensive intelligence gathering operation, mapping out the GSS cadre and identifying those responsible for stabbing our comrades. While this campaign remains ongoing and its findings have not yet been released in order to protect currently embedded sources and informants, an extensive piece detailing the structure and core membership of the GSS will be forthcoming in the near future. What follows is a small portion of the intelligence gathered on some of the GSS members believed to be involved in organizing and participating the in the upcoming March 25th MAGA rally:

Alicia Clayton expressing gratitude for the support and participation of neo-Nazi Jason Kale CAS

William Scott Planer aka Wilhelm Von Panzer

In late spring of 2016, sources within the Colorado white power movement informed us that William Planer and Joshua O’Leary would be traveling from Colorado to California to attend the June 26th rally. Sometime after the rally, the same sources relayed that Planer had been bragging about his involvement in the violence that day to others in the local Neo-Nazi scene- specifically, for his role in hitting a woman in the head with a stick after she had been knocked to the ground, with such force that it broke the stick in half. Video footage from the attack was widely circulated on social media, and Planer even used an image of the attack on his social media profile.

After this attack, he retreated from the scene and pulled out a pocketknife, attempting to hide the closed blade in his palm. A block east of the large confrontation, Planer stabbed a young woman in the abdomen across the street from Capitol grounds before escaping the scene in a getaway car.

Planer has an extensive criminal history with multiple felony convictions, and has been previously incarcerated. Planer has stated on social media that he will be traveling to Sacramento again to attend 3/25 rally.

Jason Kale CAS

Jason Kale CAS is the 6’6″ individual seen armed with weapons and a shield and wearing a baseball cap reading “border patrol” on the day of the June rally. He was captured on film violently attacking Anti-Fascist protesters before retreating with the rest of his group. In one image, he is seen attacking a protester with a stick while another Nazi stabs them in the abdomen.

Kale has attended Alicia Clayton’s pre-25th rallies along with other GSS members, and has been in close communication with her. Despite his profile being rife with overt Neo-Nazi imagery and other fascist material, Clayton has shared his videos and publicly expressed gratitude to him for promoting and participating in her rallies. He was joined by fellow GSS members Joshua O’Leary and Clint Durnay during one of these rallies. Kale works as a solar panel installer in the greater Sacramento area.

Joshua O’Leary

O’Leary traveled with Planer from Colorado Springs, CO to attend the June 26th rally. He was seen wearing a white bandanna around his head and assaulting anti-racist protesters at the skirmish. He was easily identified by his one missing ear.

O’Leary (left) with Planer

A Look into his past revealed that O’Leary also has an extensive criminal history, and was arrested and held as recently as November 2016 for violating his parole. While O’Leary lived in Colorado for a while, he has since moved back to the Sacramento area with his partner Kassandra and their child.

Clint Durnay

Durnay also participated in the June 26th rally, and attacked anti-racist protesters while armed with multiple weapons and a shield. He was quick to retreat with most other GSS members. Durnay was a close friend of previously identified Nazi stabber Derik Punneo. According to a source, Punneo and Durnay regularly used opiates like oxycodone and stimulants like methamphetamine, which is unacceptable in GSS according to their official rules. After Derik was outed as one of the stabbers soon after the rally, his increasing erratic behavior and substance use apparently resulted in his ousting from the organization, as well as Durnay turning his back on him. Punneo would later be arrested for domestic violence against his partner. Durnay is expected to attend the rally. He current resides in Citrus Heights with his partner and child.

Nathan William Lowry aka “Lee Roy Jenkins”

Prior to the June 26th rally, Lowry maintained social media accounts under the name “Lee Roy Jenkins,” and acted as the liaison between the Traditionalist Worker Party and GSS, working as the point of contact for Neo-Nazis seeking to participate in the rally.

He was photographed attacking anti-racists with a metal flag pole, though he quickly turned tail after being caught in a stream of pepper spray. Lowry has an extensive criminal history in California and Washington State, which includes felony charges stemming from strangulating a former partner and possessing an illegal firearm among other violent acts.

Impunity for Nazis, Repression for Anti-Fascists

While a wealth of images and footage available online shows damning and identifiable evidence that these Nazis are responsible for the June 26th stabbings, the state has thus far refused to charge a single GSS member. This of course is not a surprise for those of us struggling as anarchists and Anti-Fascists against not only individual white supremacist and Neo-Nazi groups such as GSS, but also structural white supremacy as it exists within state institutions. This invariably includes the police force, which historically has directly relied upon the violence of white supremacists such as the KKK to maintain the status quo.

Recently, the CHP announced that they had forwarded the results of their extensive investigation on the June Rally and subsequent counter-protest to the Sacramento District Attorney with recommendations to charge 106 individuals with 68 felonies and 514 misdemeanors. Based on historical evidence, it is widely anticipated that the majority of these charges will be directed at anti-racist protesters rather than the Neo-Nazis responsible for the stabbings.

As Anti-Fascists, we do not rely on the so-called justice of the State and its enforcers, and instead call upon those fighting back against fascism and all other forms of race, class, and gender-based oppression to strengthen their anti-repression knowledge during this time and make space to fight against the impending state repression that many will be facing. Let us repeat: there are many ways to fight fascism and white supremacy beyond confronting it in the streets. Just as important as physical confrontation is supporting the anti-racist struggle and those facing the legal repercussions of choosing sides in the war against white supremacy. The vital work of providing legal, material, and emotional support for those soon to be facing charges and their loved ones will play a huge role in securing the upward trajectory of anti-racist struggles in our region and beyond.

Let the Nazis not only fall short of us in our capacity to confront and shut them down in the streets – as we have always done and will continue to do in the days and months to come – but also our strength in caring for and supporting each other. We outmatched them on June 26th on the bloodied grounds of the State Capitol. Now, we will rise to the occasion once again and outmatch them in unwavering support of our comrades facing state repression. No Anti-Fascist left behind. Not now, not ever.

Fighting Fascism in the Face of State Repression

Yesterday, news broke that the CHP is urging the DA to charge 106 individuals with 514 misdemeanors and 68 felonies over the shutdown of the white nationalist rally at the state capitol nearly a year ago. This development, while alarming to many, should come as no surprise. If anything, it is just another clear indicator that the state is the enemy of radical movements and of the people, and that the police are not to be trusted or given any information for the sake of our collective safety and freedom. In the days to come, we will be publishing an in-depth and comprehensive guide to state repression and how to best prepare for and protect yourself from it. For now, here are some key things to remember:

Don’t panic
In times like these, the importance of staying calm and grounded cannot be understated. We must respond to state repression, not react to it. It is important to be aware of the the negative impact that poorly thought out actions can have on yourself, your friends, and your community. Be aware of the ways you are communicating and using social media. Often, the state publicizes concerning information in the hopes that individuals will panic and succumb to poor judgement. Instead, the best course of action is to prepare ourselves as much as possible and build strong support networks.

Support one another
Facing state repression, especially of this magnitude, can be a huge stressor for everyone affected. Now is the time to offer support to your friends and comrades, and reach out for support from them if you are feeling overwhelmed or alone. State repression is an effective tool that can destroy movements through intimidation and isolation. Instead of succumbing to these feelings, we must lean inward towards our communities, strengthening bonds and building effective support and anti-repression strategies. The state is a formidable threat, but we are stronger against it when we are united.

Zero Cooperation
At this point, it is inevitable that arrests will be made and charges will be pressed in the near future. It is essential that anyone anticipating this kind of repression take a stance of zero cooperation with the state. As we know all too well, the criminal justice system has nothing to do with actual justice. Cooperating by way of plea deal, sharing information with law enforcement, or incriminating others can only hurt you and your community. We must refuse to throw others under the bus, no matter what the state promises. To do otherwise would be to strengthen the state’s power against us, and the potential damage that it can do to our movements and our livelihoods.

If you anticipate state repression, please take some time this week to memorize the National Lawyers Guild phone number.
If you are contacted or detained, call this number so that you can begin to receive support, legal and otherwise.

(916) 500-4654

If you see or hear of someone being detained for their involvement in the June 26th demo, email us at antifasac@riseup.net and get in touch with the National Lawyers Guild  at nlgsacramento@gmail.com.

State repression is serious and must be handled accordingly, but that does not mean that we will allow it to strangle our movement. The government cannot prevent us from resisting fascism, patriarchy, and white supremacy in all of its forms. The Antifascist movement is here to stay. We will not be stopped, and no one facing a legal battle will be left behind or forgotten.

One antifascist has thousands of dollars in medical bills still to pay!

The individual who can be seen raising a fist in this piece of art is one of the six antifascists who was stabbed by Neo-Nazis at the capitol in Sacramento on June 26th, 2016. This artwork was created after it was brought to our attention that he still has thousands of dollars in medical bills to pay. An artist got to work, and now we are selling prints to continue fundraising for this brave individual’s remaining medical bills.  They are 5 dollars each, and printed on 7×8 cardstock. If you would like one, please head over to the Donate page, make a donation, and email us to let us know how many cards you’d like and what address we should mail it to.

Thank you for the support!

Memorial Fund Launched: Help Us Honor Michael Israel, Fallen YPG Volunteer

15267785_975216882578022_1047916275088704879_nOn November 24th, 2016, beloved community organizer and committed antifascist Michael Israel was killed serving the People’s Protection Units (YPG) in Syria. Michael was from Motherlode California, and was on his second tour in Syria as part of an effort to fight fascist powers there, including ISIS- he planned on staying for several months as an international volunteer before returning home. He died alongside fellow international brigade member Anton Leschek and several Kurdish YPG defenders after being targeted by Turkish airstrikes in western Manbij. He was just 27 years old. The community that Michael left behind is a broad one- in addition to his volunteer work in Rojava, Michael was also involved throughout the years in local groups such as the Motherlode Progressives, Occupy Sacramento, Sacramento IWW, the Anti-War Movement, SEIU, and the Democratic Socialists of America. He was a shining example of virtue in his community, and a comrade to many. His friends and family grieve him deeply, and remember him tenderly. Michael was hell-bent on changing the world for the better, and hell-bent on giving back more than he took at the end of the day. Though his time was short, his success is evident in the impact he made on those around him and the causes he was dedicated to. We, like much of the Sacramento radical community, have been deeply affected by Michael’s passing. In support of his family, Antifa Sacramento has taken on the work of putting together a memorial fundraiser. At the family’s request, all funds left over from memorial expenses will be donated to the Kurdish struggle in Rojava that Michael so selflessly sacrificed for. May he rest in power, and may his contribution and character never be forgotten.

Supporting Each Other And Resisting State Repression

CAIR’s notorious anti-FBI poster. We love it.

It has now been five months since the events that unfolded on June 26th. Given the gravity of the situation, we must assume that the investigation is fully underway and prepare for repression accordingly. It is abundantly clear that during this aftermath period, we can expect to see law enforcement take its usual route of targeting and isolating individuals in an attempt to gain information to be used both to prosecute and for ongoing surveillance purposes.

Keep yourself and your friends safe- don’t talk!

California Highway Patrol (CHP) has jurisdiction over capitol grounds, so by extension they are heading the investigation of the events that occurred on June 26th. It was CHP detectives who pursued each and every patient at the hospital who was attacked by Neo-Nazis, trying to squeeze out any information they could from incapacitated and often drugged victims. Now, it will be the CHP that approaches local activists in their homes, at work, through the phone, or on the street in an effort to find leads and instill fear and distrust.  Luckily, the injured had great hospital support that counseled them on the importance of silence and equipped them with the contact information of several trusted attorneys. We want to take this opportunity to provide the same level of support to everyone else in the community who may be unsure about how to best handle a police encounter. Now that the next phase of information gathering is clearly underway, spreading anti-repression resources around is all the more crucial.

If approached by the police, the CHP, or the FBI, ignoring their questions, firmly directing them to your attorney, and ending the encounter as quickly as possible is the best and safest way to proceed. All you really need to say in this situation is “I have nothing to say to you, and any questions you have can be directed to my lawyer”. Give them the name and number of a trusted lawyer, and end the encounter. Anything else you say can (and will!) be used against you and others. Answering even seemingly harmless questions can give officials enough information to prosecute or hold you or others. It is legal for them to lie to you, but illegal for you to lie to them. They will use this to their full advantage- enforcers of the law can and will lie to you as a tactic to instill fear and distrust, and will conversely try to catch you in a lie so that they can detain you for further questioning. They may promise you that your situation will be easier if you cooperate and tell them what they want to know, but they are in no way obligated to follow through on those promises. We are of the opinion that anyone who the CHP may think was involved in the 26th (regardless of if they actually were or not) is fair game to be contacted by them. Rest assured that should this happen to you, you are not alone and there is legal support waiting for you if you do end up facing state repression of any kind.

If it gets to the point that you are a suspect and a search warrant has been issued for your car and/or residence, you have the right to inspect the search warrant. Look for and make note of the date, time, location and a list of allowable things to seize. If you ever see that they are taking anything that does not appear on that list, it is actually best to let them take it because it will be thrown out as evidence later on. If you do bring to their attention that what they are taking is not on the list, they can call it in and get it approved, allowing them to keep the evidence. Finally, if you end up being detained or arrested, that’s your opportunity to again firmly say out loud that you will not answer any of their questions, and that all of their questions can be directed to your appointed legal representative. We would also like to remind everyone that, during an open investigation, pictures and videos are invaluable to law enforcement in their quest to prosecute. Do not share any videos or photos from the June 26th anti-Nazi demo that include individual’s faces in them- to do so is to endanger the individuals and quite possibly yourself. In this specific circumstance, sharing identifying pictures and videos poses a double threat. Exposed individuals may experience surveillance, intimidation, and violence by Neo-Nazis in addition to state repression.

This is a great time to educate ourselves (or re-familiarize ourselves!) with all the above information, as well as to do some outside research to better prepare ourselves for a possible encounter with law enforcement. As a part of a radical community, it is important to share this type of information widely so as many individuals as possible have access to it. State repression can be handled much more easily and result in fewer repercussions if we educate ourselves and support one another when faced with it.

The Civil Liberties Defense Center (CLDC) has been a vital resource for radicals here in the US for ten years now. They provide great legal support and educational tools for dealing with repression by both local law enforcement and federal agents. On their site you can find plenty of useful videos and flyers (such as this know your rights slideshow and the printable flyer below) regarding your rights as an activist and much more.

An informative printable from the CLDC.

Update: Supporting The Injured

After the Neo-Nazi attacks at the Sacramento rally on June 26th, a support team was organized to raise money for the nine individuals who were hospitalized. The community came together to donate and spread the word, and we are happy to announce that we were able to raise over 20,000 dollars to help with the costs of surgery, hospital bills, physical therapy, and other necessary medical expenses. All nine individuals were supported through the recovery process and offered monetary assistance. They are currently all in stable condition, and are expected to make a full mental and physical recovery.

We want to take a moment to thank everyone- the injured themselves for their sacrifice, the global community that has reached out, those who donated to the support fund, the dedicated team who provided hospital support, the medics who saved lives on the Capitol grounds, those who sent thoughtful get well cards and letters, and the many who stood with us on the 26th. Your support and solidarity has kept wills strong and spirits up!

June 26th: Our Official Statement

13516385-1747014275575274-3570753110179374787-n_1_orig

On June 26th, 2016, antifascists successfully prevented a Neo-Nazi rally that was set to take place at the Sacramento Capitol. The Traditionalist Worker Party (TWP) and the Golden State Skinheads (GSS) came together to plan the rally as a show of force and a platform for their racist ideology. The former a fascist political organization, and the latter a local white power gang, the partnership was supposed to be the perfect match of brain and brawn. According to TWP Chairman Matthew Heimbach, “The Trad Worker Party are bringing it off the internet and onto the streets of Sacramento on June 26th. The Antifa are not happy about this, but there is no way they will be able to put a stop to it. If the TWP can march in Sacramento, then they can hold a rally anywhere.” Local antifascists heard that, and knew that action had to be taken- not just for the sake of preventing this one rally in our town, but also for the sake of setting a Golden-State-Standard and discouraging future fascist activity. Three months of careful planning and nonstop organizing later, and it was showtime. It was clear that all our hard work was not in vain- a crowd of around 500 counter-protesters, made up of countless individuals, affinity groups, and a few larger organizations, showed up to shut down the rally with us. Outnumbered by about 25 to 1, the white supremacists had to be protected by over 100 police officers, and even then were completely blocked from holding their event. SacPD and CHP were woefully unequipped to handle the sheer number of counter-protesters, and finally cancelled the official permit that had been obtained for the rally. However, this was not enough to dissuade the white supremacists from trying to take the area by force- several attempted to hold ground on the capitol steps, though all were inevitably stopped. When it became clear that they couldn’t get the upper hand, the TWP and GSS charged directly into the counter-protestors, stabbing and wounding several people in a bloody melee before being chased down the block and into a waiting getaway car by angry antifascists. If it weren’t for the dedicated street medics on duty, it’s entirely possible that some of the stabbing victims could have died that day. As it was, 9 individuals were hospitalized. Even with such extreme tactics, the fascists in the TWP and GSS still couldn’t hold any leverage against the much larger mass of counter-protestors, and were rebuffed each time they attempted to gain ground.

Neoliberals, pacifists, and corporate media alike roundly condemned the violence that took place that day, framing the counter-protestors as instigators and the white supremacists as acting out of self-defense. They won’t acknowledge (and some may not even realize) that anti-fascism is in and of itself an act self defense. In a world that commits constant and unspeakable violence by way of white supremacy, patriarchy, xenophobia and capitalism, how could taking a stand against oppression and its keepers be anything but fighting back? White supremacist groups, like the system that they are a product of, are instigators of violence. They perpetuate violence by their very nature, by their very ideology. Antifa’s violence is that of a prisoner breaking open the bars. White supremacy’s violence is that of a tyrant exerting equal parts power and cruelty. To obscure this truth is to turn a blind eye to patterns that have repeated themselves throughout history. Too often it is still obscured. The pacifist left would have us trying to reason with the Nazi threat while our comrades are being stabbed, just as they would have us languor in the red tape of bureaucracy should we oppose the greater system that results in so many people starved, imprisoned, beaten, raped, tortured, and left to die of sickness. Deviate from this narrow and impractical path, and be seen as the same as what you are fighting in their eyes. This sort of policing and condemnation of militant resistance isn’t strategic, isn’t effective, and serves only to divide and weaken our movements. Any moral superiority supposedly gained by those who maintain a strictly nonviolent ideology is quickly revealed to be a facade- in the face of structural and systemic violence on a far greater scale, these so-called pacifists would rather turn their frustration toward the comparably minor violence of those resisting, effectively ignoring and diluting the root of the problem. It’s no wonder that this ideology is so commonly parroted among reporters, journalists, elites and politicians- it serves as the perfect framing to both discredit those resisting injustice and redirect public focus from the broader issues at hand. Could we really expect them to promote resistance? To do so would be to pave the way for their own destruction. Instead, they will feed us safer and more disarming half-truths, and sit back as their opposition tears itself apart. Don’t believe them.

What happened on June 26th is not an isolated occurrence. It is part of a much broader pattern- fascists and white supremacists are emboldened by a political climate that looks the other way at best and sympathizes with them at worst. It is a direct result of the rise in frequency and aggression of right-wing extremist groups. The number of radical right hate groups has increased 14% in the past year, and California is number 2 on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s list of top five states for hate groups. The Valley has never been a stranger to hate groups and the violence that follows them. Just a few weeks before the 26th, a Sacramento local pastor praised the shooting of 49 queer people in Orlando in a recorded sermon. A few months before that, a pariah of the white nationalist movement dropped flyers across Midtown Sacramento calling for the murder of Muslims and Latinos in our city, and for the securing of “body dump sites” by fellow white supremacists. Around the same time, a group of men in white sheets terrorized a mother and her child outside of a shopping center in Auburn, CA. Earlier this year, Klansmen stabbed 3 antifascists in Anaheim, CA, and received no charges. Indeed, the June 26th Nazi Rally fits right in with the bigger picture of hate-fueled violence and terror, a pattern that will no doubt drag onward as history repeats itself. Each time we take action, we are pushing back against this narrative. Each time we do nothing, we are allowing it to stand as valid, acceptable, normalized. We cannot afford to stand around or look the other way in the wake of this very real threat- instead, we must continue to disrupt and fight against it in any way we can. Together we must organize, build, and grow, and ensure that the blood spilled on the 26th wasn’t for nothing.
